Kate Niehaus continues to set the pace. Georgetown freshman Natasha LaBeaud and high schooler Nichole Jones follow. Alex Banfich, a high school sophomore, was taking part in the adidas Yoder Begley Camp during the Championships, but she crossed over from spectator to competitor to compete here. Kate Niehaus continues to lead Natasha LaBeaud. LaBeaud ran on Niehaus' shoulder, and it looked like the only thing that prevented her from taking the lead sooner was her race strategy. Jones, a native of Texas, has one year of high school remaining. She was running three events at this meet, but she showed her endurance last year by running a 1:21:34 half marathon as a sophomore.

Oklahoma State's Anissa Angelosante finished fourth 18:17.18. The girls' races tended to have smaller fields here, with only seven running the 5,000 and five in the steeplechase. Natasha LaBeaud moves into the lead, but Kate Niehaus and Nichole Jones are still close. Niehaus finished fifth in the two-mile (10:21.90) at the Nike Outdoor Nationals less than one week earlier. The top two runners here, provided that they had run faster than 16:30 during the qualifying period. LaBeaud begins to pull away. LaBeaud did have the qualifying standard, so she was basically guaranteed a spot on the team which would compete at the IAAF World Junior T&F Championships in August, since no one would break 16:30 here. Alex Banfich finished fifth here in 18:27.75.

Natasha LaBeaud extends her lead. LaBeaud is originally from Folsom, California and she qualified for Foot Locker nationals as a high school senior. Kate Niehaus was unable to cover LaBeaud's move and she finished second in 17:37.43. Nichole Jones finished third in 18:13.85. The stifling conditions prevented everyone from running close to their fastest times. Natasha LaBeaud won the race in 17:12.63.
