Mishael Bertrand wound up fourth in 2:06.84 and was the fastest non-qualifier out of the second prelim. Hazel Clark held off Kristina Bratton and Frances Santin to win the second prelim in 2:05.45. Clark also went on to win the following day's final in 2:01.98, edging out Alice Schmidt. Clark automatically advanced. Bratton finished second (2:06.08) and advanced on time... ...as did Santin (third, 2:06.13).
