McKayla Plank, 17, of Los Gatos, California. |
Katie Fritzke, 16, of Weed, California, represents the Buffalo Chips Running Club. |
Jacqueline Lee, 17, of Granite Bay, California. |
Caitlin Chock, who (coincidentally) graduated from Granite Bay (CA) High School last spring, made a strong move around 5K to pull away from Liza Pasciuto. |
Chock, who now lives with her coach, Alberto Salazar, and is part of the Nike Oregon Project, looked like she was working hard, though. |

Chock may have gone too hard too soon, though, and she struggled in the final half mile. |
Liza Pasciuto, who raced with great maturity and helped her Colorado team win an NCAA Championship in November... |
...looked more relaxed with about 1,000 meters to go. |
Pasciuto is originally from Murrieta, California. In high school, she was a two-time Foot Locker national finalist. |
Stanford freshman Lindsay Flacks, age 18. |

Lindsey Scherf runs in fourth place, just ahead of Jenny Barringer. |
With about 1K to go, Erin Bedell was in sixth place, and only the top six would be going... |
...to France for the World Championships. |
NC State freshman Christina Fiduccia, age 18. |
BYU freshman Heidi Magill, still running with only one shoe. |
|
|
|
|
|
High school senior Zoe Nelson, 17, who has already committed to the University of Oregon. |
Virginia freshman Emily Harrison. |
Bria Wetsch, 16, a high school junior from Chaska, Minnesota. |
With approximately a half mile to go, Liza Pasciuto (left) had essentially drawn even with Caitlin Chock and the race was on. |
Chock struggled at the end, however, and finished fifth in 22:06, which was still good enough to put her on the World Cross Country team. |
