Felicia Guliford anchors for Tennessee. Cassie King continues to lead and the pack tries to chase her down. Michigan’s anchor, Lindsey Gallo, had looked very good in her mile prelim earlier in the evening. Missouri senior Amanda Bales. With two laps to go, Cassie King continued to lead, but with such a strong pack racing behind her, it looked like she was vulnerable.

R-L: Marina Muncan, Sara Bei, Lindsey Gallo, Colleen Kelly, and Jennifer Davis run 2-3-4-5-6. Jennifer Davis runs a strong anchor leg for West Virginia. Dacia Barr leads Felicia Guliford. With one lap to go, the chase trio of Muncan, Bei, and Gallo had nearly drawn even with UNC’s Cassie King, and it would be a thrilling race to the finish. Muncan, Bei, and Gallo had the benefit of working together to catch King, while King was on her own for seven of the eight laps. All things considered, she did a tremendous job for UNC.

Muncan looked like she was going after King, and Bei looked like she was going after Muncan, but it would be Gallo who ended up running the strongest final lap. Georgetown's Colleen Kelly and West Virginia's Jennifer Davis run 5-6 with less than a lap to go. Villanova's Marina Muncan led Sara Bei over the final lap, but Michigan's Lindsey Gallo... ...used a great kick to move by Bei and Muncan on the outside and win an amazing race for Michigan. Micigan finished in 11:08.24, Villanova was second in 11:08.76, and Stanford finished third in 11:08.81.

This was Michigan's first DMR victory since 1998 and their third-ever title. The team of Nicole Edwards, Sierra Hauser-Price, Theresa Feldkamp, and Lindsey Gallo won their first national title. This was Hauser-Price's first season running indoor track - she had played basketball for Michigan for the past three winters. Sara Bei (left) and Marina Muncan both ran great anchor legs for their teams but came up just short. Gallo spots her teammates and reacts to the team win.
