Tirunesh, who will turn 20 on July 24, won an Olympic bronze medal in the 5,000 last summer... ...and swept the 4K and 8K titles at the 2005 World Cross Country Championships in March. Reports indicate that Tirunesh and Ejegayehu were on or ahead of world record pace for much of the race, but with one kilometer to go... ...it was pretty clear that the record would not fall.
