Just before they hit the 1K mark, there was a huge pack up front, led by #317 Lindsey Scherf, with many others right behind. |

The first kilometer of the Indiana State course features a long, gradual downhill, which makes it easy to start quickly. |
Unlike many of the recent NCAA cross country meets, there was no strong favorite in the women's race this time around. |
This time, there were many women in the race who had the potential to vie for the title on any given day. |
