As Catherine Berry and Merima Hashim, who are excellent runners in their own right, passed through 3,400m... ...Tirunesh and Ejegayehu Dibaba were coming up on 3,800m. Around the 3,800m mark, Tirunesh Dibaba broke away from her older sister. Sentayehu Ejigu lost contact with the Dibaba sisters just before 3,400 meters.
