Carmen Ayala-Troncoso, 46, also of Austin, Texas, finished second among the masters in 35:38. Cassie Hintz, 17, of Stillwater, Maine, has opted to forego the regular high school season and run in open races instead. She finished 30th in 35:50 and won her age group. Melissa Cook, 25, of Johnson City, Tennessee finished 32nd in 35:58. Nancy Tinari, 46, of Canada finished third in her age group and 31st overall in 35:56. Carrie Zografos, 26, of the B.A.A. and Brighton, Massachusetts, finished 33rd in 36:00 (35:59 chip time).

Alissa McKaig, 19, who was a freshman at Baylor last year, finished 34th in 36:08. Cynthia Mauzarell, 31, of Boise, Idaho, finished 36th in 36:16. Tatyana Pozdnyakova, 50, of Gainesville, Florida, finished 37th in 36:20 and won her age group. Danyelle Phelps, 30, of Milton, New Hampshire, finished 38th in 36:25. Joan Benoit Samuelson, 48, who qualified for her seventh Olympic Marathon Trials by running a 2:46 marathon just than one week earlier, continued to amaze by finishing 40th here (36:31).

Karina Johnson, 22, who was a top runner for Colby, ran impressive negative splits here to finish 48th in 37:25. Laura Hayden, 25, of the Greater Boston Track Club finished 46th in 37:24. Hayden, Gillespie, and Johnson all had the same chip time of 37:22. Kim Webster, 29, of Framingham, Massachusetts, finished 49th in 38:00 (37:59 chip time). Emily Bates, 29, of the B.A.A. and Cambridge, Massachusetts, finished 50th in 38:06.
